Boxed Out, Packed In: Packaging focus

Posted on 2nd April, 2020 Boxed Out, Packed In: Packaging focus

There are many aspects to contract packaging, from the materials used for the protection of goods, to the correct labelling and batch assembly. We have our own in-house operation, which allows us to offer our customers a range of options that can appeal to any company size and product scope.  This precision process requires efficiency and accuracy, and is a key component of our offering at our base in Wardle, Cheshire. The expansion of our warehousing capacity, with the addition of a new-build site at Crewe, has meant that we are able to handle a much larger amount of products, which means we are able to deliver our top service to even more satisfied customers.

Protection and identity

Our contract packaging division is designed to intersect seamlessly with our warehousing and distribution service. The packing service can offer a range of options, from repacking and rectification work, to retail pack design and packing assembly. Packaging is an integral aspect of a product and provides both protection and identity.

Some packaging is seen by the person buying it, while other types are simply for protecting the product on its journey to market in transit. The fact that packaging is a completely disposable commodity makes it one that is often scrutinised with regards to recycling and environmental impact. This is why packaging for warehousing has to be resilient, but also sustainable. The continued popularity of various grades of cardboard and card for both inner and outer packaging is due to its resilience, lightness and disposability, while synthetic and plastic-based materials pose more of a challenge.

A specialist team

At Boughey Distribution, we have a team of over 30 packing room staff which offers a full range of packing options. These include hand, POS and pack assembly, pre-retail, labelling & bar coding, stretch and sleeve wrapping, can labelling and quality control. Jobs are individually priced, to ensure our service is competitive and fair.

We can also develop and implement short-term packaging solutions, such as promotional packs and special offers, which have a specific shelf-life. We can assist with the design and assembly of retail packs that are ready for distribution straight into retailers. A high degree of accuracy is required in our packing and labelling department. Errors at this stage of a product’s shelf life can have a real impact on our customers and end-users, so we pay great attention to detail when carrying out these tasks. Stock can be taken into quarantine due to packaging errors and the resulting remedial work to correct this can be time-consuming and costly.

When it comes to packing, our team offers a safe pair of hands in protecting and labelling your goods. Our customers appreciate our care and attention to detail, as well as our efficiency, which makes sure we provide the best service at the best rates.
