Our two sites, Wardle and the new warehouse, recently opened in Crewe, have received high marks in recent audits for the BRC Global Standard for Storage and Distribution accreditation.
The state-of-the-art ambient 237,734 sq ft warehouse located on Crewe Commercial Park attained a ‘double A’ standard while, in an unannounced audit which is undertaken without the company receiving notice, the 48-acre site in Wardle was awarded an ‘A+’ standard.
The BRC Global Standard for Storage and
Distribution recognises best practice and facilitates a process of continual
improvement through well-designed risk-based product safety management systems.
It ensures the quality and safety of products during their storage and
distribution throughout the supply chain.
Developed with input from leading brands,
retailers, storage, logistics and online retailers, the highly-regarded
standard is specifically designed for logistics operations dealing with food,
packaging, and consumer products.
The rigorous two-day inspections at the two
sites were conducted by independent inspectors and managed by the company’s
Quality Management Audit Supervisor, Sarah Hall.
In what has been an
exceptional year for the company which has seen it recording the busiest month in
its 56-year history, the team at Boughey has managed unprecedented demand due
to both the Covid-19 pandemic and preparations ahead of Brexit. The extensive fit-out of the new warehouse in
Crewe also took place at the height of the crisis.
“The news of us achieving the excellent BRC grades
was a real boost for everyone,” said Warehouse Operations Director, Danny Earp.
“Our team has worked so hard during the very tough recent months to keep vital
food supplies moving around the country. To receive high-standard
accreditations for both our original site and our new warehouse are a real
testament to the high standards that radiate throughout the company and it’s all
down to the great people we have working with us. To gain this formal feedback from the BRC
couldn’t be better third-party endorsement of this.”
“Getting the new facility in Crewe open
during the tough months presented by the Covid-19 crisis demanded diligence and
a great effort from everyone involved in the project.”
