Sadly, our colleague Mark Smith recently lost his battle with prostate cancer. In his memory and to raise much needed funds for Prostate Cancer UK, the first Mark Smith Memorial Golf Day was held on Saturday 27th July at Pryors Hayes Golf Club, Tarvin, Cheshire. The event was sponsored by Arco and attracted 26 players of varying abilities, all of whom enjoyed a round of golf in the glorious conditions. It was good to see the event so well supported, with £450.00 raised by the players. At the end of the day the action moved to the bar where the Mark Smith trophy as presented to Mark's father Kev.
On top of the money generated at the event, another £450.00 has been added to the total with the proceeds of a raffle held on site at Boughey, Wardle. In all the organisers of the event are delighted to be able to donate £900.00 to Prostate Cancer UK.
The second Mark Smith Golf Day is scheduled for 20th July 2014, so if you are golfer or you are thinking of taking up the game, you have plenty of time to work on your handicap.
