As part of our ongoing commitment to customer service and cutting-edge efficiency, we have expanded our warehouse offering on a grand scale. We have recently opened a new 237,734 sq. ft. warehouse at Crewe Commercial Park, which will create around 100 new jobs for the area. The new warehouse at the ‘Crewe 240’ building has undergone an extensive fit-out and will increase the company’s storage capacity from 100,000 to 137,000 pallet spaces.
The site’s proximity to the A500 trunk road and the M6, as well as good road links to our site at Wardle, mean it was a natural choice when we were looking at the options. We have secured a lease on the warehouse for 12 years. Despite uncertainty around the shape of business post-Brexit, the logistics market remains buoyant. The new building has been filled from the outset, acting as a consolidation hub for a major new customer contract. There is office space and staff car parking at the site, and a range of different job opportunities, with the majority of the new roles being for warehouse operatives, both with and without forklift truck expertise.
A logical move
We are now a major part of business regeneration in Crewe, which is contributing to a positive vibe of growth and confidence in the area. Our presence has been positively received in the local area and will mean the creation of approximately 100 new jobs in the sector, from warehouse operatives and administrative staff, to LGV fleet and fork-lift truck drivers.
Our new facility in the ‘Crewe 240’ building will open for business in the first week of April 2020. It’s seen as a major boost for the region, in terms of prestige and business growth. We’ll be using the facility in addition to our existing site at Wardle, which will address an increase in demand from our existing customers too. Space is at a premium in the current climate, so the more storage we can offer, the greater competitive edge we can have over our rivals. Our commitment to long-term investment will hopefully demonstrate to future prospective customers that Boughey should be their distribution partner of choice as a ‘safe pair of hands’.
