Our new warehouse, recently opened in Crewe, has received double ‘A’ accreditation in the BRC Global Standard for Storage and Distribution, the highest grade attainable.
The state-of-the-art ambient 237,734 sq ft warehouse located on Crewe Commercial Park has increased the company’s storage capacity from 100,000 to 137,000 pallet spaces. In spite of the challenges presented by the Covid-19 crisis, the team at Boughey managed the extensive fit-out of the warehouse which took place at the height of the crisis.
The BRC Global Standard for Storage and Distribution recognises best practice and facilitates a process of continual improvement through well-designed risk-based product safety management systems. It ensures the quality and safety of products during their storage and distribution throughout the supply chain.
Developed with input from leading brands, retailers, storage, logistics and online retailers, the highly-regarded standard is specifically designed for logistics operations dealing with food, packaging, and consumer products.
A rigorous two-day inspection of the Crewe warehouse was conducted by an independent inspector and managed by our Quality Management Audit Supervisor, Sarah Hall.
“The news of us achieving the BRC ‘AA’ grade was a real boost for everyone involved in getting our new warehouse up-and-running,” said Warehouse Operations Director, Danny Earp. “Getting the new facility open during the tough months presented by the Covid-19 crisis demanded diligence and hard work from everyone involved in the project. We were also experiencing the busiest time in our history, so it was vital that we kept everything on track.
“We have a fantastic new facility to showcase to our customers and the award of the top grade from the BRC couldn’t be better third-party endorsement of how good it is.”
