The year in store

Posted on 4th February, 2019 The year in store

At the start of a new year, it’s always an exciting time to look ahead and see what the next 12 months has in store. In the first half of 2019, there are four key exhibitions and conferences that cover various aspects of Boughey’s offering, from packaging solutions to product showcases that are key dates for your diary.

First off is Packaging Innovations 2019, which takes place at the Birmingham NEC on 27-28 February. It’s the UK’s largest packaging event and is co-hosted with Empack (which looks at innovative packaging technology) and Label&Print (which caters for the label and print side of the business). Packaging Innovations is the one-stop shop for all aspects of the packaging industry. Visitors and exhibitors can meet and learn from a range of experts and industry leaders, with over 300 suppliers under one roof. There are great opportunities to network and to find out what the latest hot trends are likely to be in 2019. Packaging is one of the most scrutinised subjects at the moment, with current thinking examining environmental impacts and sustainability issues. This too will be addressed at the exhibition – there’s a range of seminars, covering industries such as Drinks, Beauty & Cosmetics and Retail & E-commerce – and forums such as the Big Plastics Debate, which looks at ways forward in the future.

On 12 March, the Grocer Conference takes place at Cavendish Conference Centre, London. This prestigious event plays host to top industry figures who will be discussing new technologies in the grocery sector and the adoption of these technologies. Speakers at this event will be looking at everything from social data to the role loyalty cards play in retailing, but it will offer something of interest to anyone involved in the sector. The International Food & Drink Event (IFE) 2019 takes place at ExCel London in 17-20 March. This massive event gathers together 1,350 innovative, global and cutting-edge food and drink manufacturers. It’s a great place to see new products and new trends, and also takes in Pro2Pac, the food and drink processing and packaging event. This joint festival is a must-attend event for future-focused businesses.

Between 18 and 20 June, Multimodal is staged yet again at the NEC in Birmingham. Now in its twelfth year, Multimodal is renowned as the UK, Ireland and Northern Europe’s premier freight transport, logistics and supply chain management event. It’s another multi-discipline showcase – whether you’re an equipment supplier, port, haulier, shipping line, 3PL or forwarder, Multimodal offers unique insight and expertise on a range of challenges and solutions. It provides opportunities to make valuable face-to-face contact with customers and associates old and new, and holds the key to all your freight and supply chain management and logistics solutions.

These four events cover many aspects of the logistics, ambient grocery and freight markets and it will be interesting to see what the latest trends, technologies and thinking are emerging in the changing landscape of 2019.
