Spring is with us, which means that it’s exhibition season again – a time of year to think about where and how to show off your wares. Trade shows are a key aspect of the warehousing and logistics calendar, with shows on many aspects of the industry, from food and packaging, to technology and mechanical kit. Whatever industry you’re involved with, there’ll be a trade show dedicated to it, from hospitality and construction, to healthy lifestyles and exercise.
A massive date in the calendar was Foodex 2018. This prestigious event took up a three-day residency at the NEC in Birmingham from 16-18 April. It’s the premier trade event and one-stop shop for the food and drink processing, packaging and logistics industries in the UK. Professionals and companies from across the industry spectrum were looking at emerging trends and new thinking in the sector. Foodex 2018 was part of five shows covering the entire UK food supply chain, including The Ingredients Show, Food & Drink Expo, The National Convenience Show and The Farm Shop & Deli Show. Over three days, this foodie extravaganza saw over 30,000 attendees exploring 1,500 exhibitors, listening to 250 speakers and attending 100 live events. The event has 42,000 Twitter followers and with those kinds of numbers involved, it’s easy to see why trade shows remain enduringly popular.
The start of May saw Multimodal, the UK and Ireland’s premier freight transport logistics and supply chain event. This also took place at the NEC, from 1-3 May. Now in its eleventh year, Multimodal is the UK and Ireland’s premier freight transport, logistics and supply chain management event. It sees representation from every area of the logistics sector. With all your freight solutions under one roof, last year’s Multimodal attracted 9,449 attendees. Shippers and cargo owners attending can find new ways to improve their businesses, by meeting new suppliers and discovering ways of freighting their stock more efficiently. The show covers all modes of transportation, including road, rail, air, sea and inland waterways.
